Sugar has Foster Care!

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Sugar has found her foster + possibly her forever home! No giving birth in the shelter. :) Once puppies are weaned, she will be fixed so she never has to be bred again + pups will be up for adoption through Lexington Pit Crew. Thanks to her new foster family for opening the hearts + home for Sugar! And thanks again for everything the Lex Pit Crew does to help save so many lives!

Jetfro, Walker Coonhound

I'm Jetfro, a 13 year young walker coonhound. I'm not too old to show you love or be loved. I enjoy walks on a leash, having my ears rubbed and long naps. Did you know that November is Adopt a Senior month? Yep, it is! Why not come by to visit me at the Garrard County Animal Shelter to see if I can fill a spot with your family soon?

Adoptions and A Reuniting!

Asher was adopted last week! We wish him and his family all the best. Enjoy your people, Asher!

And a great story to hear: Major, was reunited with his family today! The family had to go out of state for medical reasoning. When they returned, he was missing. Thanks to the goodness that Facebook can bring, the family saw our posting of Major and came to the shelter to confirm that he was indeed their missing baby. So glad to know he's back where he belongs!

Welcome to the Friends of GCAS Blog!

First off, please take a moment to LIKE the Garrard County Animal Shelter page on Facebook for the most up to date information on all things shelter related.

This blog was started to share extra info such as rescue / adoption / foster forms for those interested, volunteer opportunities, how to donate to the shelter and even some behind the scene activities going on.

My family visited the shelter Friday November 20th and I took photos of the new intakes, cats and dogs both. A rescue did pull three dogs while we were there. A huge thanks to those from Lexington Pit Crew that came down this week to help with clean up, donations and support! Lexington Pit Crew has pulled many furbabies from the Garrard County Animal Shelter and because of them, so many lives are saved. We can't thank them enough for all they do!
